Where Robert Morris' Box with the Sound of its Own Making presented a walnut box and the sound of its own construction, Interior Volume presents remnants of a replica of Morris’ box continuously animated by the sound of its own material transformation. Walnut dust lines the interior of the acrylic cube which exactly matches the unseen interior volume of Morris’ original walnut box. The replica, reduced to shavings by a miter saw, has been commemorated in its former constructed state by Box with No Sound.
